Any advice on removing the studs, when the nuts have rusted on the studs on the inside of the hull? Almost impossible to get at, can't angle grind/saw off. This is on a wooden hull, thinking only option to try and angle grind the square fixed washer off on the outside.

It is sometimes possible to shear the studs if you can get a good grip on the inside nut and locked nuts and a strong friend outside. decent sockets are usually OK for this. You can utilise the square washer if standing proud.

Exactly as you suggest yourself, then punch the remnant through from the outside. But be careful not to overheat the wood adjacent to the stud whilst grinding. I would use a very thin slitting disc to minimise the material being cut and hence the local temperature, then grind it in several short sessions

I think if access is difficult inside I would cut the external stud level with the square plate, center pop & drill working up to the bolt size & plate will pop off, then drive the remaining bolt into the boat. No wood damage that way.

Glad you got it out ok.

Just as an aside, i add heat shrink sleeving to anode stud bolts for the section thru the plank in the fight against any electroysis action in the wood. Together with the sealant it helps to electrically isolate the stud from the wood.
