For those who were not aware of this property of Coca-Cola. The phosphoric acid content (which is present to add to the tangy flavour) is sufficient to remove surface rust before further treatment/polishing/painting.

That bottle is filled with something other than Coke. I notice that he does not drink any of that wonderful Cola during the making of that video??

.

Yes, definitely not coke. I tried cleaning a few coins by soaking them in coke for a day or so. Expected them to come out shining like a new penny, completely disappointed, no different to when I started soaking them.

I reckon that Coke is genuine. It fizzes when poured out.

Probably the first bits of dust and light rust then act as an abrasive, enabling the coke as a carrier to to remove most of the rest of the rust.

I suspect different countries have different formulations, anyway.

It works. It's also a very good window cleaner. We used to use it on aircraft windows on quick turn round in the RAF.
I find that surprising-from direct experience.

After a Speedway match where I had a coming together with another rider, causing both of us to fall but the Referee excluded the other guy from the re-run my van windscreen was squirted with Coca-Cola as I drove out of the stadium.
I used the washers and wipers and got a fair way off before I stopped-it was not unknown for fans to get a bit shirty with opposing team riders-and the resulting sticky mess required a stop on the Motorway services to wash it off. It certainly was not clean!

I'd like to have seen half done with liquid and other half with just the emery cloth for a fair test.

I just buy phosphoric acid from ebay.
