Rust on newly replaced standing rigging

Fair point Gary, I guess what I’m getting at is that price seems to be the driving factor in much manufacturing today.
Quite a number of chandleries sell forged parts and don't know it in many cases. I even found a brass thru hull listed as marine bronze recently. As for important SS parts, I go all the way to the factory or main supplier to make sure I don't buy far Eastern carp parts. Not naming company names, but Lazyus who are the cheapest supplier of low quality designed to fail steel or stainless parts made an anchor and a waterproof socket, and both of them had small chains that were not galvanised and started rusting after a week outside,
