Russian Navy vessel finds an abandoned Bavaria in the North Atlantic

Another one?
BBC N.I. has a happy ending story about a dive boat in N. Donegal which has towed in an abandoned yacht they found drifting in fog, enquiry revealed a singlehander from the Azores on passage to Iceland had been rescued (by Falmouth Coastguard?) after he lost his rudder, there is a fuzzy picture but I do not recognize the type of boat. The owner is on his way to claim it.

Interesting to see how they kept a gun aimed at the boat while approaching it for the first time. Also, to see the yacht being towed at speed - after apparently removing all the owner's personal belongings etc.

Not sure how delighted the owner/skipper is, though. I read somewhere that salvage is being claimed, and he is uninsured...
Does the yacht/contents now belong to the skipper of the dive boat? How does it work?

So why didn't he rig a jury rudder, floor boards on the spinnaker pole worked for me.People seem to jump ship far to easily these days.

I understand he did try that but without success, the coastguard sent a passing ship to him and I presume they were not going to stand by for ever. I think as a single hander in mid Atlantic, he did the right thing.
The 'emergency tiller' supplied with my boat, while an elegant piece of stainless steel, needed some modification with an angle grinder to fit securely, even then with the binnacle in front of it, it was uncomfortable to use, even in the marina, (this was part of the commissioning handover exercise, 5 years ago now) I always meant to have another look at improving the concept so this has reminded me.

That's not a Bavaria. It looks like a Swan 36 to me.Or it could be a Jeannau. They made them with those large windows for a while.Towing the boat at that speed they'll break it in two sooner or later.
