Thanks Hwmbo for the thread, very interesting and quite surprising - well for me anyway...
One of the top reasons I'd like twin's over a single 'was' the apparent redundancy it gave you but if you're restricted to around DS speeds anyway then I'm inclined to agree with Daka!
For reference as asked:
Sailing boats either lock their props, some turn sideways, while most others simply fold in with the current.
So for me, having a decent aux giving around 6knts isn't perhaps so bad after all. And of course I use less fuel
That said, most of this thread is based on shaft drives, is it a similar problem for stern dive units?
