I am in agreement with Hermann on this. When I restart in the spring, I crank the engine until I see the pressure start to build, before I allow the engine to start. Seems to work OK for Rafiki.

thanks for agreeing. I also turn the engine till the pressure of oil is OK.
Then the engine is allowed to start because I love it . The engine is a Mercedes OM 602 ,
5 cylinders abt. 90 hp , marinized by myself in 2007. Until that time I run a mercedes truck-engine , 6 cylinders 95 hp , build in 1966 .

5 cylinder engines have a very distinct beat, and always remind me of the original Audi Quattro! I have 2 times 4 cyl engines in Rafiki, not great for sound, but fantastic economy.

Hy rafiki ,
you should have listened to the beat of my former 6 - cyl. truck engine , you really would "desire" to get such a sound . Conversation in the steerig - house is quite like trying it in a disco. But I ( and my wife ) enjoyd this sound 28 jears. The sound became every year a bit quieter . Perhaps while running to the age of 70 we felt it. The 5 - cyl. engine is in comparision to the truck engine like using a sailing boat.
There may ( will !) be some mistakes in the text , but my English is from the school , more than 50 jears ago.
