I’m considering buying one or maki ng one similar and would love to get feedback/opinions on those that actually have one and thoughts on this design in general.

I really like the hydraulic shock controlled kick-up feature.

I’d be getting it for my Paceship PY23. I could get a 36” or 45” draft. I’d go with the fiberglass rudder rather than the HDPE

RudderCraft.com has been helpful and responsive but their website lacks the details I’m curious about.

They apparently have a 0.05% failure rate of the 5,000 rudders they have out. There is some discussion about their pintles failing.

Please let me know if you have one of these and your thoughts on it.

Thanks,
Andy

Welcome to the forum

That looks an interesting product I doubt will get much direct feedback here as this forum is very UK orientated and pretty sure the product is not available here.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of the UK focus on YBC, good to know. Yeah, with it being a USA manufacturer I can see it is unlikely folks in UK have one. The site says its patented (though they don't show a patent number) and even if it is, it's unlikely patented in UK/EU so maybe the interesting product will cross the ocean.

BUT! I guess I now DO know where to go with my Dial-face 1984? Autohelm 1000 questions! :) ...The Autohelm 1000 is DEFINATELY and interesting piece of gear and I really like it, much more than the push-button newer ones.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

The pintles do look a bit exposed with long levers to the fixings, on the other hand any loosening or fatiguing should be visible on inspection and they could easily be renewed or beefed up.
A tight tiller /rudder assembly with no slop will transform your sailing pleasure
