Hi. I have dropped the rudder on my Albin Comfort. I have a query on bottom fitting that attaches the rudder to the skeg. It looks like a bronze casting that comes in two halves and which clamp together around a steel bar going through the rudder. The fitting has some corrosion on top - see picture. My query is how easy it would be to get this repaired, can it be 'welded' or reinforced where it has corroded? I presume it would be difficult and expensive to get a new one made up, so ideally I would like to repair it. If anyone has any experience of this type of fitting or repair, I would appreciate your thoughts.
