Rudder Lost In Blackwater

On the 24th May in the "freak wind" (see http://www.maldonandburnhamstandard...causes_dinghy_to_capsize_in_River_Blackwater/ ) one of our club members lost the rudder from his Drascombe Dabber in the Blackwater.

Has anyone seen one washed up ashore recently?

Not as of yet. I'm a member of Stone Sailing Club and was out today. I'll keep my eyes peeled..

Wasn't too much of a "freak wind" in the sense it was predicted in the 13.10 inshore broadcast as being up to F6, but was surprising was how quick it appeared; from virtual calm to a F6 in seconds. I thought it would go just as quickly, but it didn't.

You are dead right about the speed it changed. I was just patting myself on the back for doing the gloss in a nice calm and bang, I'm suddenly struggling with the basic speed which was enough and it whipping at extra speed round the bows. that's my excuse anyway for that dodgy bit of painting.
