Had a nice solo-trip under all sail yesterday. Funny how on a good day even the things which have previously represented problems, work flawlessly...
...when I arrived at the beach I disconnected the downhaul, and although I would have sworn my rudder strenuously resists coming upright, it bobbed up as if it was helium-filled.
So it's true, I don't need a two-part purchase (nor the second two-parter I added to the first, by which I expect a hamster-wheel could wind it up)
.
I can run a single 1.5mm dyneema line through the hole in the blade, splice it to thicker line for the clam cleat and jettison the trailing-edge shackle and block too.
I'll keep the boomkin though - the leverage from its end is definitely preferable to heaving the line round the small-radius of the rudder blade's head:
Something wrong with Photobucket there...the vid is so jerky, it looks as if the rudder takes fifteen seconds to bring upright.
For clarity, the blue-decked Osprey is not mine, just a photo I found of a similar boat.

...you need to think about moving the spinnaker chute so that it is central and making the actual chute wider - the friction of a wet spinnaker in there will make it almost impossible to hoist.
