After a great weekend spinnying both legs to Fecamp and back ran out of wind approaching Chi on Sunday
Started engine - full flow out of exhaust but after building up boat speed no water at exhaust - damm that weed?
Took off pipe and rodded out pipe and seacock (ball valve type)- full flow out of sea cock bits of weed- ha - problem solved?
Started engine - full flow but after building up speed again no water at exhaust - expletive deleted several times
Removed pipe again - Pipe clear but no water coming from open seacock. Pushed my seacock cleaning tool (an old metal coathanger) through the cock again, pushed something away from hull.
Boxed up started engine full water flow, but this time remembering previous incidents with long knotweed fronds went full astern
Up popped what looked like long length at least 20m of very flexible rubber strake. This must have been caught around keel sometime since leaving Fecamp and as the speed built up under engine been sucked against the hull over engine seacock cutting off water.

Conclusion - always think laterally.
