has anyone any answers to the problem of dirty black marks on everything that touch the black rubber rubbing strake on the topside of many boats?

Have just bought some Star Brite cleaner specially designed for this??. Am using it this weekend for the first time so will keep you posted.

I'm sure some of the other forum members will recommend something for you though.

I'm afraid this is something that is caused by the age of the strake. On my old Broom it was a constant source of annoyance and in the end I just replaced the lot.

Try rubbing linseed oil into it ,
i've not tried it but i think it'll work , worth a try before spending out on new stuff.

Try the "Back to Black" type trims aerosols from your local motor accessory shops. The Draco one looked dreadful and marked everything badly, this stuff seems to seal the rubber and deffo made it better. Note it took 2-3 apps before it finally looked good, but that didn't matter 'cos SWMBO was doing it.....
