I have a jeanneau SO35 (25mm Prop shaft) with a volvo dripless shaft seal.
To avoid burping after drying out I am considering switching to a RMTA shaft seal.
Has anyone swaped these seals, was it straightforward and how does it perform

Thanks

Don't know about the RMTA but I have recently fitted a Lasdrop Gen2 from PH Marine and think it is excellent.

I swapped because my old Volvo seal was looking a bit worn, (30mm shaft) and the RMTA was a simple direct swap. Take care to measure the shaft tube to get the correct RMTA seal as for the 30mm shaft seal there are two sizes according to whether your boat has a metal shaft tube or a thicker fiberglass one. I did not arrange water feed, just took a clear plastic tube from the seal to a point well above heeled water level. As the swap was last winter I cannot yet comment on longevity of the RMTA seal, but it looks identical to the Volvo one, with the addition of a grease inlet and a water feed point. I think its a good swap, and it is cheaper than the Volvo one.
P.S. Drip free so far.
