Postponement in force - lots of peeps milling around looking anxious. Chap inside of us has chamoised his deck and wife has washed down the foot marks. God its exciting.
How about a S,butt water fight on the start line?!
Anyone got a url to a cowes or any other wight webcam?
I'm stuck at home wishing I was on the water, my wife just had an op on her elbow - and I'm feeling very left out.
I jumped ship last night after a long trip back from my holiday I couldnt face the race, I was regretting it last night but glad I did now looking at the wind as it looks like a slow old sail.
Well, we got some wind eventually - we ended up beating all the way from the needles to Bembridge. That race was hard work - but I have to say I enjoyed it!/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Two gripes over the organisation:
Why on earth didn't they extend the cutoff time to match the start delay? We made it in with 11 minutes to spare and were 275th overall There must have been 50 or 100 boats who would have made it in by 2300 that were DNF at 2200.
The worst thing was the reporting barge parked in what must have been at least 5kts of tide when the slower boats were finishing. I'll bet some of the non-declared boats just couldn't make it against that tide and gave up.
why are the results different on the JP Morgon and ISC sites?
We had a good day but were frustrated by a downhill start for the third year running. We got going ok once we goose winged genneker and mainsail but had lots to catch up. Was alongside another Dehler 37 at Bembridge - Ruby Tuesday- and was ahead of them at the sands but blew it after that. Still thats the fun of the day.
Landers at Gosport were great and kept the chef back to feed us - with a 3.3 kn tide it took longer to get back from Cowes so applause for them.
Have a photo of the boat manned by RAF who insisted on pushing in at the declaration barge - multiple objections lead to " we dont f***ing care" response. Great to see our service boys so above every one else. Will post it when I upload it. Plonkers.
No extension of the finish cut off time Cos it would of been dark, and they could not see your sail number. (spose you could of been honest and declared your own finish time)
