Royal Family: Crinan Canal in the 60s.

Funnily enough saw Bloodhound yesterday alongside HMY Britannia in Edinburgh: she was moored alongside having been purchased by the same trust as own Britannia.

Britannia is well worth a visit - lots of photos of the royals on yachts, a Rolls Royce loaded on deck, various bars for the crew on board and a great restaurant on the top deck, though the greenhouse it is in is out of keeping with the elegance of the ship.

Will we get Britannia back if Scotland becomes independent?

Seems the right type of anchor

And they probably had the wrong sort of anchor... (the right sort hadn't been invented).

Pretty sure there's a bit in one of the better earlier editions of 'Heavy Weather Sailing' about the 1957 Channel Storm where Bloodhound was nearly driven onto the rocks at Selsey and anchored as a last resort; the anchor held but when they recovered it the chain had been tensioned into a solid rigid length...

I don't think it would work to scale on my boat, but it seems to have done the trick for Bloodhound !

I last saw her years ago at Cobbs Quay looking a bit sorry for herself, hope she is in good hands now.

I saw the Bloodhound last summer in the Locks at Fort Augustus-looks beautiful these days unlike when it was for sale back in 1990s with the beginnings of a tree growing on her counter stern deck !

I once saw them at Ardrishaig when they were going through the canal on Bloodhound. It must have been a few years earlier than the photo in the OP cause Anne had a head of blonde curly hair, a bit like Shirley Temple.
