why dont these wonderfull river users look before they leave thier pontoon at full speed!
and does anyone know what damage has been caused to my outboard by slamming into reverse so the other wonderfull river user didnt kill himself ?
It grinds and i get full revs but hardly any drive in reverse but full power in forward.

Tell me about it! The other evening i was pottering around in my Nan's Broom Scorpio and I remembered why i prefer being on the coast. In an hour I had a rower come up from behind and down the inside of me scraping the boat with his blades and shouting at me coz i had slowed down to lower my wash for a rower passing in the other direction. Incidently i was over on the right side of the river. Then i watched one crash into a tree and nearly knock himself out. And talk about noise pollution - 8:00pm at night you're trying to watch Eastenders, its a nice evening so the doors open and all you can hear is a little man on the other side of the river with a loud speaker shouting "you have to move your arms for the oars to move!". So yeah - not big fan myself!

If your unlucky it could be the gears in the gearcase or if your lucky it could be the cush drive in the prop hub. Drain the oil from the lower unit and see if theres any metal fragments in it!

When will you dudes realise that being on the water is not a right, it is a privilege allowed by Rowing Clubs. In essence one should drive your boat out of their way preferably into shallow water and doing in your props, they have the right to commandeer the arch of a bridge going upstream while you are coming downstream. Additionally single scullers have the right to rest up chatting to other rowers thus blocking the river. If wind and current are a problem to you, then forgive them "for they know not what they do". Lastly do not expect them to look around every 7th stroke to see if they are steering into danger, part of their committment is to create havoc-it is in their club's rule book. They gain extra Brownie points for that.
