Just arrived back to Bray from St Kats just to be photographed by a speeding eightsome and their coach! The cheek of it!! Red boards, so yes our bow might have looked more menacing than reality but they shouldn't have even been out! We were on one engine due to a broken fanbelt and were just making it home around the inside of Queen's Eyot when they appeared round the corner, too fast and mid stream. Then the astounding sight of not the expected wave of thanks - as we dived out of their way into the bushes - but a flash of a camera!! Can't believe it! Have 'registered' our amazement/annoyance with Keith at Bray Lock and he says he saw them earlier in trouble at the bridge - agreed they shouldn't be out, and will back us if anything comes of the photo etc.
We may have to be pro-active during the run up to the Olympics if this is a foretaste of their attitude!
Cameras at the ready I say!

Don't forget to report it yourselves to both the rowing club and TMBA.
Glad you are safely back!

Most likely Eton Excelsior on that stretch, although others boat out of Dorney on a regular basis eg The Army. Have to get quick with the camera yourself to catch them back, nowadays.

Ooooo.....and what have we been looking at now ?

Quite a change (but be warned I can bore for England on this one)! You might know it? The name's Trotwood - and we've been after it for years. A wooden Andrews top on a Seamaster 34' hull - from Bourne End way. 1970 It hasn't moved for 3 years and needs 'saving'! Its BEAUTIFUL! Hence this one has to go! :D

Trotwood

My wife and I have admired her for many years. Altho' I don't post regularly I couldn't resist commenting.

Trotwood

I used to berth next to her in Bray- about 18 years ago. She was owned by a man named Alan (?) who lavished lots of love on her. Then the next I saw her she was up at Bourne End and beginning to look a bit sad.
I always admired the classic lines and woodwork (when its done right !).

Trotwood

That's really interesting - thank you. We're slowly getting facts in about her. We know she was commissioned for a couple in Cookham Reach (?) - just before Marlow - and has also been kept at UTYC for many years but we didn't know she'd ever been in Bray. Was that the Marina here?
