Weather routing software (freeware)

Whilst searching for routing software, I came across qtVLM.
Haven't had the chance to use it in anger yet, but have been playing with it for a couple of days and I must say I'm impressed.

I have been playing with the weather routing plug in openCPN and it works ok but still needs a little work as the author is sailing at the moment.

Read the whole weather routing thread on the forum will tell you how to download the plugin software.

Get the latest beta of OpenCPN to get it to work the best.

It's 26 pages long so you may need to read moat of it to get where the weather routing plugins are located and then a bit further to get the passwords to assess the downloads.

I have now got it working OK ish with the new beta 3.3.1006 version using grib files downloaded from zygrib but not from Climatology

Do these systems know about ocean currents and allow for them in their predictions?
