Just seen the vid of the publicity for the next race stating the 15 January from Alicante the new boats seem to have an enclosing shed over the cockpit so no more scenes of man against nature as he is doused by southern ocean waves?………still in relation to the voyage of the ships Erebus and Terror who sailed into unknown waters with just basic equipment they will have it easy, although the Erebus max speed was only 7 knots….. not so much splashing about?

I am sure the equipment on HMS Erebus and HMS Terror was cutting edge at the time. Should they have been in the Southern Ocean their navigators will have been very, very poor as they were looking for the North West Passage.

HMS Terror was built in Topsham quite near The Bridge, one of the best pubs in the known universe.
