What are my chances of finding enough room to anchor in Osborne Bay overnight before Round The Island, if I arrive at around 8-9pm? Will it be gridlocked by people with the same idea? My other option is sailing over from Portsmouth in the morning for our 7.20am start, but that means even less sleep!

Thanks,

Dan

would have thought you'd be fine - the bay will be full of boats spectating the actual race but the night before shouldn't be a problem.

Alternatively you could try anchoring off Lee on Solent - with light winds that should be OK and reasonably close to the start line. However we will be staying in Portsmouth - the tide will be with us for our start, so shouldn't take too long.
