Anyone make any sense of the conflicting forecast for the race this weekend.

One appears to see a high coming in and another a low. That many boats going round in a blow would be interesting.

Must admit I am looking forward to it.

Del Buoy.

Looks like you will get a good spinny run from Ventor to Bembridge in the rain.
More wind over the other side forecast than this side, so if you see a Barra going towards Weymouth, thats me wimped out till Sunday. Have a safe successful race

just a gathering of a few boats in the solent !

I'm more worried about The Festival of Speed on Friday! Have a good 'race' in any case! Just keep the island on your left.

It'l blow and you are going to get wet,, should be a fast race if a little lumpy! Certainly round the Needles will be fun- port tack with all boats turning starboard in front of you!! Go wide!!

BBC R Solent said this morning that it was 60 knots at the Needles, gusting 68 Knots. What are the web cam addresses around the Solent?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Erm, the windguru site seems to be underestimating by almost 100%.

ie For 1300 today, they were predicting 27knots off Sandown, and Chimet shows gusts to 55kts - and they are not that far apart !!

Cheers, now I know!

I so hope the forecast is wrong, the idea of a downwind, downtide start is really not what the doctor ordered. Particulary when the whole class arrives at the needles in one big multicoloured blob.

The likely wind direction seems much like last year, maybe a tad stronger. Then there was no rain last year. I did enjoy the spinnaker runs for the start and finish but tacking south between the Needles and St Cats so we could enjoy a liesurely lunch did put us into the adverse tide for too long. This year I have a folding prop and my handicap has only been altered from 1.032 to 1.035. 9 hours, here we come.
