I'm not a fan of any kind of sponsor my holiday trips sort of thing, so I certainly wouldn't be donating. But I wish him well and will watch his progress with interest. He should have a lot of fun doing it.

His map of overnight stops in the expedition tab of the website looks overly ambitous, but it's only a plan, he's gotta start somewhere.

Its an awful long way in a small, slow boat. Especially if you stop and do not keep banging on against the tide or the weather.

I emailed Loris to ask, and he has replied to let me know that "All the donations go towards the Howard Doris Centre and the Marine Conversation Society, the expedition costs are covered by myself and any sponsorship."

On that basis, I have thrown a tenner into his hat.
