Rough cost of a sacrificial strip renewal please?

Guess around £350,but why not just phone 3 sailmakers then you would not have guesses. However, not a good time of year to be asking as they will not be short of work.

Covercare in Thornham Marina did mine. Chosen because only a lane and a hedge separated their workshop from my boat in the next door yard)

There current charge is £80.00 + £15.00/m of leech length ( this price includes the foot).
They charged me significantly less because they did not have to unpick and remove an old strip

If the sail needs cleaning that will cost extra.

And for me was £25 per metre of luff length. Included laundering and unpicking the old.

I was quoted around £250 inc VAT for a replacement UV strip for the sail off a 35ft Jeanneau from a local sailmaker. I took the sail in around November time and had a call to say the job was all done a couple of weeks later and that the UV strip itself was fine, just the stitching in a few places had failed. They re-stitched it instead for a fraction of the cost.

Good news; and an honest sail-maker. Just a little surprised therefore why you thought the strip required replacing to start with ... if it was just the stitching?

Normally tell if strips dead by finding a hole and trying to tear it.If fabric parts easily that's the time for replacement.
Restitching can mean its going to be more of a pain next time round to remove, but will often give a few more seasons life.

Story against myself.
When I got the boat, one fairly new genoa in otherwise lovely crispy condition had been ruined by previous owner leaving it on the roller without a sacrificial strip. (He was 83 when he finally sold the boat !)
Second genoa I took in to Jimmy Lawrence, Brightlingsea to get a sacrificial strip put on it so that I could leave it on the roller. Got a phone call from them checking my requirements as it had a perfectly good, but white, sacrificial strip on it already. Couldn't really see it until they pointed it out.
Good people !

Maybe it was a mis-judgement on my behalf but when removing the sail for the Winter I noticed that a few areas of stitching had pulled/torn and parted with the UV strip. I wasn't aware that re-stitching was an option. I gave the sail to them with the go ahead to replace the whole strip - so indeed, a very honest sailmaker and an influencing factor in choosing the same company to carry out a full re-rig this Winter.
