Rotary or orbital what size for polishing.

Thought I'd polish my boat for the first time in 15 years. I've got one of those big variable speed rotary sanders but its bloody heavy. Tried a counterweight but it was too clumsy. I've a small random orbital which has either foam or wool heads. Got some old boatlife polish which came with the boat. Any wisdom on the best polish and any other advice from regular polishers appreciated.

I've been using 3M lambswool mops and backing pad for years on my polisher. Everything needs replacing now so I thought I would see if anyone has found any better combination for polishing our dark blue Starlight. I use 2000grit polishing compound for any areas that require it.

Hi - Can anyone recommend a decent but not break the bank polisher / buffer ?
Looking for one for when the its the start of the season next year.

I've got some Silverline spanners which i consider reasonable quality at good price. I wouldn't upgrade as premium quality tools aren't really viable on a boat where, with a moments carelessness, they can disappear overboard.
 
I bought a cheapo Halfords tool set about three years ago. It's been very useful and many of the tools used. The only thing I notice is the pozi/phillips screwdriver tips are rounding off a bit as the metal is made of chocolate.
