I want to buy a coil (220meters) of 22mm of polyester, three strand rope, to make up new mooring warps for mine and JB's boat, where is the cheapest possible supplier of rope in bulk? Any help much appreciated.

Did I write polyester? Then I guess thats what I meant.

Englander is 48 tons, with high topsides, I doubt seriously whether polyethelene or polypropylene would quite do the job!

Jimmy Green, no thanks a bit too expensive for my tastes, but thanks anyway.

That's going to be a forklift job!!

I bought 180m of 18mm nylon rope off ebay a few months back for just over £100 but not seen anything thicker than that on the auction site. And that was bloody hard to lift!

A few years back we bought our 200+m 24mm polyester coil from the Fisherman's supply in Spain - the price was very good as I recall.

I realise times have changed but aren't there any fisherman co-operatives you could visit in Barca or nearby - I'm sure they'd have reels of the stuff?

BTW the quality was excellent & I still carry shorter lengths of it onboard today.

A word of caution - not all rope is the same. Check the breaking strain before buying. Cheap rope may well not be manufactured to the same standard as those of 'known names', so you may do better buying a smaller diameter branded rope, than a larger non-branded rope.
I did an excercise before buying new warps last winter on 3 strand polyester and found the best strength to price ratio was Marlow from the Marine Super Store.
