Does anyone know whether Talurite or Nicopress ferules can be used to form eyes on the ends of line, either twist or braid. ? Would they weaken the rope ? Thanks for any response.

not suitable for rope as you'd need so much pressure to grip that it would cut into the strands. to make an eye without splicing, a siezing with whipping twine works well, especially if you stitch it first.

they would also be a hazard to your nice shiny decks, hands windows etc.

I wouldn't consider it myself

and download the eight page file on 'splicing'

Quite a good write up. It will show you how to make off the ends of your ropes among other things.

As has been stated by other posters ferules will just cut through the rope.
