rope clutches

depends on the size of the halyards, pennants or whatever.

I just had to buy one for my new set up. Looked at Spinlock's etc, but settled on a simple Barton clutch for about half the price (£30 ish IIRC). Works absolutely fine, just for the topping lift.

NAS,
I am happy with my Antal 8-14mm triples on the coachroof, and a lot cheaper than the Harken gear on the other side. They dont have a sudden drop off like the Harken, but similarly they dont have a real positive click when they are engaged. 125 quid a pop.
Think the Harken is better, but will I ever wear them out on a cruising boat? No I didnt think so either. 170 quid a pop.
Spinloxk XAS 6-10mm on my furling line and Cruising chute tack line do just fine too. Single about 55 quid I think.

But you know the morass of lines coming back over my coachroof... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Pardon me stating the bleeding obvious ..... you need to think about the geometry and layout of all the new deck fittings before drilling the first hole. I fitted new stand-up blocks and organisers in additional to the new clutch, so had several holes to drill.

I found I could work out exactly the best place to put something on the deck, then I went below and removed the head linings, I found there was something in the just the wrong place. Eg an internal piece of timber framework or whatever. So I had to replan each item to suit.

Depends on the individual boat of course.

Now .... about sucking these eggs, granny ......... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nick,

No need to act all coy.... thats good advice.....

I'm planning on fitting an organiser either side, and then clutches along each side, but then need to consider where they can actually be mounted, as opposed to where I would like them mounted.... I am thn hoping to add winchers to teh two coachroof winches, and replace the main genny winches with ST winches.... and relocate them at the same time, to give a bit more space for sitting on the side...
