ronstan batten cars

hi,

just bought a new boat with this system. My problem is that when I am pulling the sail up, the ball on the end of the batten rises to the top of the "recepticle" on the mast car and falls out sometimes. I cannot see any securing mechanism for the ball. I guess I could tie them down with a bit of string but this seems wrong! I've written to ronstan with no reply as yet. Any thoughts from the forum??

is there wear on the torlon balls reducing their dia, thus allowing them to fall out of the housing slot.

no wear that I can see S, the system looks pristine and barely used to me
