Why don't they harness all the power from the weirs with some turbines, it's all going to waste.

Simple -
They cost a lorra money. The Romney one is for the Castle - so pehaps Her Maj: paid for it.
EA's got no money - so they can't do it.
Thinks, would all the weirs generate the 7% of power that's needed.......

Osney, Mapledurham and Romney are operational. Bell Weir, Sunbury and Teddington are in planning stage. But my comment was frivolous, I forgot we discuss Very Serious Matters on here!
