Romany 21

Can anyone give me any information on a Romany 21.
The boat has a 47hp Perkins with a sonic outdrive.
I have never heard of them but require a small semi displacement boat.

my dad had one for about ten years it was a diffrent model from yours as it was shaft driven this was a very sea worthy boat it had 2 bilge keels .
they were built in pool it done about 7 knots his only ever complaint was with air
locks in the diesel

I had the use of a Romany 21 Fast Fisherman which was the planing version. It had an aft mounted Perkins 4.107 engine - with an Enfield Z drive. The engine was not supercharged, but produced 47Hp at 4000rpm. You were not supposed to run at 4000rpm for more than 15 minutes. The max coninuous RPM was 3850. It was supposed to be capable of 18 knots, and providing it wasn't heavily loaded - it would plane.

There was also a displacement version with a rounded hull, and a mid mounted engine of around 10-15hp.

The layout was firly conventional for a typical sea angling boat. Basic forward cabin with tow berths. Open wheel house and aft are for fishing.

I noticed in a PBO - (last year I think) that someone was selling a new version with a much bigger engine!
