I'm looking for recommendations for nice romantic restaurant near SIBS to treat my SO after dragging her around the show.

So where would you take your SO for a nice anniversary meal and wine within 10 taxi ride ?

ps: she is not keen on oriental dishes

There are plenty to choose from. Depends on where you are staying and how far you want to go (10 mins or 10 miles?).

Oxford Street has about 10 restaurants to choose from. "Simon's at Oxfords" http://www.simonsatoxfords.com/ is a nice place but it gets busy and is not really quiet and cozy. Med bar is OK. Personally, I don't like the White Star - overpriced food with poor service.

If you want quiet and top quality food, try the restaurant at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club. Non members mobo and sail all very welcome. Food is excellent, service friendly and prices are v good.

There is a small chain called www.bananawharf.co.uk. The one in Ocean Village is OK. I tend to use it at lunchtime so cannot vouch for evenings. Food and prices are OK.

Simons is very good, as is Ennios.

But for a quiet, romantic meal during the show Ennios is probably the only realistic option at that end of town I think. Banana wharf has its place, but isn't in the same league, and will be full of exhibitors "unwinding" during the show.

As the restaurants are likely to be busy, why not ditch the restaurant idea completely and if the weathers good (I think the forecast is good), pack a special picnic as a complete surprise. There must be a nice spot around there somewhere.

The restaurant at the Mayflower Theatre is good- dont think you have to attend a show- and it is not boaty! Think you need to book in advance.

Had a nice meal at Kutti's - an Indian restaurant in Oxford street on Saturday night. It was busy though but I'd say it's a cut above your usual Indian restaurant...

Pop on the red funnel ferry , nice romantic cruise over to the Isle of white and back couple of good places there or you could stay on board and sample the delights of there cuisine :)
