Roller shroud protectors

Have had the ‘snap-on‘ type on both my more recent boats, Invicta 26 (on cap shrouds and fwd lower shrouds)and Sadler 25 ( on cap shrouds)have tried sailing both of them with and without them fitted and they definitely do help the jib sheets to run considerably smoother, especially when going about.
I do agree that the price for 1.8m of plastic tube seems excessive, but they really do work, and Consider the ‘cost/benefit’ to be a definite positive. As for ‘crud’ collecting inside them, athe occasional quick hose down the tube seems to keep bothering the roller and shroud fairly clean, the ’snap-on ‘ type can easily be removed out of season and everything cleaned thoroughly, although I usually drop the mast over the Winter, so the standing rigging is cleaned and stored out of season anyway.
