For the first time for many years, I kept the boat in the water last winter and joined in the Cardiff Bay Racing. What a revelation! Great fun, not at all serious (well not serious amongst the PYC fleet) and the enjoyment of a couple of hours sailing every Sunday was far more than the summers cruising. Honest - cruising can be a bit boring on long runs, the racing is always interesting and does wonders for your sailing skills.
Iropnically I lost fewer sails last winter because of weather than I did this summer, and most of them were for lack of wind. Crew isnt a problem if you ask round usually since many other sailors have their boats out of the water in winter. Boat design doesnt matter either - its handicap racing with a wide range of purely cruising boats. You dont even need to worry about coming last with me in the fleet.
No doubt one of the Cardiff clubs would do you a deal to keep your boat there for the racing and if you dont want that then there are owners wanting crew.
Come on, join in and at least enjoy your winter Sundays. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
