What are you looking forward to most? I'm looking forward to waking up on the boat knowing I have a long sail that day, with the route all planned and the weather just perfect. Sunshine and just the right amount of wind, with the prospect of a G & T on deck that evening and a homemade spag bol in the oven. Heaven, roll on the new sailing seaon.:cool::cool:

I'm looking forward to that feeling you get when the days been windier than you thought it would be. You get back in, it was hard but everything went well. You hit the mooring buoy first time, you've battled to stow the main, you've tidied up the carnage down below and you sit down with a big mug of tea/coffee/hot chock/Gin (take your pick). Now you can revel in the sudden calmness of it all.

That or when you go to the chandlers and what you wanted to buy cost less than thought it would...... but that is just a pipe dream.

Being out of signal on my work Blackberry.

Arriving at destination tired, slightly sun/wind burnt and enjoying that long cool drink. :)

Roll on summer!

Ian

In reality you will be will be soaked from the monsoon like summer , as opposed to the bbq summer that the met office will be likely to predict:)

which "season"?

More daylight and warmer temperatures will be welcome, along with a few more folk to socialize with, however, I am not looking forward to the hectic arrival of the fair weather "seasonal" madhouse in navigation channels and anchorages/moorings.

As I keep my boat in commission and use all year I find the pre and post "season" periods (March/April and Sept/Oct) give the best balance between weather and volume of other boaters. Late last October and a weekend trip to Cherbourg provided nearly empty visitor pontoons and still an enjoyable atmosphere in the town; the last week of December I had a day trip out from Poole on the boat and had Studland Bay to myself; the first week of January and a short trip in Tor Bay made us one of two boats out. Conditions were fair to enjoyable each time - if you don't mind chilly ;>)

I get pleasure and experience from using the boat in the contrasting conditions that exist throughout the year. Mind you, the thought of a pleasant anchorage, relaxing on deck enjoying a drink in the warm sunshine does seem an attractive contrast to ice on the decks - mustn't spoil the moment by reminding you of the summer evening jousting sessions for the narrow harbour channel/lock entrance/bridge lift/disputed mooring buoy.... oh, and jetskis.

May you all have an enjoyable "season".

New season?

This picture was taken 8th November at the Holy Loch. I'd be out there now together with another local Gaffer, but I'm replacing all the seacocks!

Hi
If the spag bol is home made. Did you make on the boat,or home ? If on the boat ,should you not have posted this on the Livaboard forum:D:D:D:rolleyes:

cheers bobt

The honest answer is that I get more sailing by racing during the winter with 4 lads on board than I do in summer with SWMBO. The reason is that with 4 lads we go out in anything. With SWMBO I am effectively single handing, she doesnt do heeling and so we sail only in F3 or the like.

So in summer I look forward to having the hood off my little car, going flying and doing things other than sailing.

You'll do just fine Madhatter.
I bought mine after a 5 day Comp Crew course and no prior sailing experience. (OK, it was a bit of an impulse buy). I was worried sick the first time I took her out but in the event, take things easy, it wasn't so bad.
Be careful though - this lark is addictive. Before you know it, your other interests will have been forgotten about and neglected.
I hired a skipper for a few days (same guy who took me for my comp crew) - Well worth it - even just for the moral support.

Yes! Moving on to my boat in late Feb/early March, assuming this weather lets up at some point, and sailing as much as I can. Although I reckon boat would be warmer with Eber on than my drafty, cold flat...:D

I am just looking forward to relaxing on board after a hard week of work. Weekends of sailing, chilling, few refreshments and some good company with me.

Oh and trying to avoid the naval vessels coming in and out of the Gareloch.

Having spent a small fortune on charts and pilot books, I'm now committed to my cruising plans for this year! Puddock, your getting a visitor my friend!!
