The Rolex Fastnet Race 2013 starts from the RYS start line off Cowes at midday on Sunday 11th August with 350 boats entered.

Over the past few months I have chatted to a few others on the ybw forum who are either crewing or entering their own boat..

Who else is entering and on which boat..? We can then organised a ybw meet up beer at the finish..

For starters we are entering the only Moody in the race - Jubilant - a Moody s38 based in Southsea marina.

An extra large YBW burgee will be flying (together with the Sailonline flag) on our backstays..

Are you sure you are in the right forum?
Surely any self respecting forumites will be drifting about in front of the startline, preparing their complaint for immediate posting about any racing yacht that approaches within twenty boat lengths of them and hoping fervently that someone might have the temerity to hail them.

best of l uck Martin and crew.

Hope you don't have to use that red sail, except to show it at the start.

Enjoy the race. very envious :)

Sarabande.. Many thanks for the trysail..

Yes - it will be flown through the identity gate at the start. I ended up sewing the sail numbers on it to ensure they don't blow off the sail!

I know a shorter route from Cowes to Plymouth if that helps.

I've done the race a couple of times but frankly found it pointless. If the finish was in Ireland then it would be so much better.
Good luck. It is much harder for the slower boats. They are out there for so much longer and have to plan accordingley.

It doesn't finish in the same place as it starts - what more can you ask from the RORC?! ;)

Anyway with ~350 entrants there are clearly plenty of people who find it pointful. I'll be there in IRC3 - have a good race everyone!

Trysail and Storm jib test photo uploaded to Facebook.. It should be on wordpress blog later..

Note the ybw burgee (XL size) just above the starboard Mexican flag.

Best of luck. Hope you have a great trip and that you have a little more wind than the last time we rounded the rock. It was a marvellous day.
