As have Toe In The Water with winch failure and Dasher following collision with other boat. Particularly sad for TITW as there were a number of injured service men and women on board. http://www.toeinthewater.org/
A considerable proportion of the race fleet have AIS transmitters as well, and it is interesting comparing the MarineTraffic chart with the Yellowbrick Tracker :

Those trimarans should be in Plymouth by tomorrow morning.
Who knows. I like the Class 40 thats wound up in Cherbourg. For some reason one of them, Prince de Bretagne, appears to be heading at 18 knots due South. Retiring? Trying to give the others a chance?
Looks like wind on the nose all the way to the Rock so don't think we'll be seeing much 20knot stuff. Probably broad reaching on the return with 2m seas.
It wasn't just a failure, the winch left the boat leaving a "gaping hole"Shame about TITW. I just wonder what the winch failure was? You would expect these guys to be pretty practical in working up a solution instead or retiring...
