Well, they won't be stopping for very long as they have to be back up in the south east ASAP (home base on the Orwell).

The do have an AIS Class B transmitter installed so once the YellowBrick has been returned to the RORC, you can follow them on MarineTraffic. ;)

Marvellous. Ahh the Orwell. Well they're be passing my boat 'home' on the way back. I'll give 'em a wave if I see them :)
 
Duet is just rounding the Lizard with 48 miles to go and a current speed of 7.0 knts.

Should be home before the pubs shut! :cool:

But with a SW F6 up the bum they could be in time for lunch!!!

sadly not before the Crew Bar shuts though ,the so called24hour bar shut at 11 last night !! On the last night too .Much to the disappointment of the massed revellers .

Fantastic.

We are in Sutton Marina, it's howling a gale the rain is pouring down but they've done it and hopefully the euphoria of their achievement will make it seem like a summer's evening to cherish :)

Everyone has their own goal in life and victory doesn't necessarily mean coming first.

Fastnet 2013 on Duet is finally over and the relief is profound! It was some of the hardest sailing I've ever done but included some of the most exhilarating sailing I've ever known... An amazing experience all round and I am so proud of our crew and what we have achieved.

However, the credit must go to the 101 year old Duet! The oldest boat in the race... Ever! She did us proud and looked after us all through everything the elements could throw at us - an amazing Edwardian lady who can kick up her heels with the best of them and never once came even slightly close to letting us down.

Thank you Duet, now take the evening off...

And what an experience!
The rain can wash all the salt off while the crew load up on ZZZs and slake their appetites ..
Top result I reckon for boat and crew.
 
We were 108th overall from 287 finshers and 42nd from 78 finishers in class 2 (Diva). Very much hampered by not having a heavyish weather close reaching asymmetric.

You could do a "Follow the Fastnet Cruise" until you round the Fastnet Rock. Then finish in Kinsale. You can spend the next week having a jolly splendid holiday along the Southern Irish Coast knowing that Plymouth will shortly be a chock a block.

Novel idea, better than going within 8 miles, but not stopping for a pint of plain :-)

IRC3 midfield, nothing of significance to report beyond the usual meteors, whales & dolphins.

It's really a very small lighthouse: we had to close to 1/2 mile in the rainy dark to see something resembleing the logo.
 
Giblets, Sarabande et al.... Thank you so much for following our progress through the race... it truly was against the wind all the way out of the Solent and to the Scillies... the crossing to the rock was then a close reach at eight knots...fantastic surfing into total darkness with the only things visible being the instruments, the compass and the trail of phosphorescence trailing out astern...
 
the Fastnet Rock was shrouded in fog and we rounded within yards of a few other boats...we only knew they were there from AIS displays and radar... Dolphins kept us company all the way back...
 
getting a Moody s38 up to ISAF category 2 initially looked like an uphill battle.. once complete we realised it was not that hard nor as expensive as we were led to believe.. The whole project was a wonderful learning experience and the crew still can't believe how such a globally disperse group of SOLers could get together and finally achieve this goal.
 
Search the internet for Jubilant Fastnet Campaign for our full story... and probably the best menu of any boat.... we enjoyed chocolate cheesecake (made on board whilst sailing) and roast dinners whilst racing... priceless.
