Does anyone know of any unmarked shallow bits and/or rocks in the sound between the innermost island and the mainland in the area shown?

I do know that we have passed through it. The Glazebrook pilot says 'The Sound. Between Rhoscolyn Pont and Beacon Rocks 400 yards in width is free from shoals, soundings giving depths of between 5-6 fathoms at LWS until within 50 ft of the rocks on either hand'. He also says that a small boat can pass between the Windward and Leeward rocks at half tide, but his 'small boat' was a 14 ft dinghy.

I'm very dubious of the pilot (Cruising Anglesey and Adjoining Waters, Ralph Morris) as it gives the impression of detailing every rock and shoal that a yacht need bother about. We were told there was an uncharted rock in the sound in question near Rhoscolyn, I've been through there with a 1.5m draft yacht at low water and didn't hit anything but that doesn't mean to say there isn't something around there.

That's why I quoted Glazebrook. Ralph based his pilot on it but excluded much of the close-in detail. Glazebrook is highly detailed and remains a masterly study of the Anglesey coast. On the occasion that I went through there Ralph Morris followed me!

I've got a copy of Glazebrook and will have a look at that. After some of my experiences with the Morris pilot and what's happened to other people I know I know there are more rocks than are shown in it.
