I am told that there is now, on the market, a pyrotechnic fire extinguisher system from "Russia" that looks like a large firework, complete with a "fuse" that ignites when the temperature is right and puts the fire out! Is this true, has anyone any experience of it and what does it cost? I also understand that it can be set or electronically.
Regards
Rob

I saw these last month at a show and was going to buy one to replace my halon, spoke to the sales guy who tried to baffle me with BS and totaly hacked me off. All this talk of attacking the fire at a molecular level and how no other extinguisher did this. They quoted me £350 for my boat, the one advantage is life span as they do not loose pressure etc.

G'day Robind,

I saw a demo about 8 years ago here in Oz, put out an oil fire very fast, we later installed some in the electrical control cubicles, only one has gone off since, and no damage caused by the burn of the bomb.

We used it to replace the Haylon systems, works well in confined spaces, looks more like a land mine or flying saucer than a firework though.

Avagoodweekend.
