Actually... The second picture in the article is a VR Mayflower made by Prof Bob Stone and his team at Birmingham University and having wandered round it wearing a very advanced VR headset can claim I went on a cruise.
Bob is a really down to earth prof from Plymouth and has done some pretty amazing stuff.

But you couldn't get paralytic on pina coladas by the outdoor pool. Some things are not worth doing virtually.

The Mayflower did not have a pool. Just a couple of barrels of salted pork on deck.
