Saw one of these for sale locally and wonder if anyone has ever owned one? Using the pathetic search facility on here doesn't throw much up but from what I can gather they are oldish,60's or 70's, bit slow as they are so heavily laid up but apart from that nothing. There isn't ever an owners association that I can see. One worrying comment was from "Davey" from Cornwall a forum member saying there is an inherent fault with the stemhead coming adrift? Any comments?

Looks very similar to a Corribee, especially the 4'8" headroom which is a acquired taste. Corribee's also have a fault of the stemhead fitting coming adrift but it's easily sorted with a strap down the front. I've not seen a Corribee without one, so I would assume that's all you need to do. Easy fix really, and easy to check.

I own a Robert Ives 33' cruiser of 1982 vintage, I believe he also designed the Mitchells, I can assure you his boats were very strong and well built, not many people coming aboard can believe how old she is, have had her for several years and am well pleased. Hope this helps..

Nothing like a Corribee as suggested above. More like a Snapdragon in style and ability, but much better built. It is heavy for its size, but sails quite well. Many had Albin 2cyl petrol inboards which if working are brilliant, but a PITA when they need work. Typical of miniature cruisers of the day, aping bigger boats with 4 berths, galley and loo. Bilge keels were popular. Mate had one for about 10 years before moving up to a Centaur.

Of course many will have been let go, but the basic structure is sound and a good boat of its type.

yes, heavy ! I do still see them around though and they seem to sail OK.

Hit a problem. The boat is very attractive and would suit me down to the ground but she is in Lough Neagh and there is no trailer to go with it. Curses foiled again!
