In the past I have frequently made reference to the fact that the RNLI was vulnerable to a down turn in the economy given its very high fixed cost structure.

This time they have got a get-out-of-jail card through the government's subsidy.

However Brexit is also still in the offing where it's unlikely that there will be a second bail out.

It's in the accounts / reports

It is from memory quite a lot less than i would have expected and considerably less than he could earn, with his background and qualifications, in the commercial sector
I have not checked in accounts but read it was £160000, so may be scope for some other high rollers to take a haircut as well?

No, i did not

The RNLI's income comes from two principal sources : current donations and inheritance legacies.

In recent years the former has either been static or falling but the situation was saved by large inheritances. Very often the legacies concern properties which the executors must sell off to realize the legacy. However, in the current climate it will be very difficult for executors to realize the hoped for amounts - or any amount at all. This trend has already been noted for last year in council meetings.

Hence the importance of not having high fixed charges.
