Bought a stormforce subscription for an 8 year old. All very exciting for him.
He takes boat safety seriously.
He proudly wears his lifejacket from the second he steps out of the car and keeps it on without fail unless "his feet are on carpet" in the boat. He makes sure the dog does the same.
He has other safety rules and was looking forward to the tips and games in the stormforce crew room.

So the first thing he did was try to download the magazine. Takes you to an app with a 17+ rating. So he can't read the magazine.
Then he looked for all the games etc.

All require flash, so won't work on his ipad. He doesnt have a PC.

So I rang the RNLI. 3 times to get through to someone. "ah it is a very old website and doesn't work on a tablet".

Why don't they tell me before I buy? Why disappoint kids?

I demanded my money back. They don't seem to have been asked this before because they don't know how to do it. Yes I know it's a charity but it's a point of principle, if they can't provide a decent website the order page should at least say "NB only works on a PC"

Grrrrrr..........

That's very irritating. Whilst this isn't in any way an answer I know that some lifeboat organisations are on facebook. Lymington posts quite regularly, for example, pix of the recent sad fire on the Huntsman (which was also on here). So it would be possible to get some real-time lifeboat information for your boy.
