I thought I would post this considering it is a topical cause. I apologize if this annoys anyone and if so please ignore.

The Background

Our family business is the shipping company John Good & Sons. The oldest family owned shipping business in the country, founded in 1833. This year we felt we'd celebrate being 180 years old by raising money for the RNLI buy walking the 180 miles between the two major ports of Liverpool and Hull along the Trans-Pennine Trail. Staff from all over the UK will split into teams to complete the 180 miles in one day and then converge at the Humber Bridge to all walk the last section.

We're doing it for the RNLI since over the history of our company we have relied on the lifeboats to help many of our customers and the seamen working our own ships. In fact the original founder, John Good, was saved twice after going overboard in the 1830's! This led him to develop some life saving concepts such as a gas powered rocket that launches a line from a stricken vessel to the shore, as opposed to the practice of getting a line from the shore to the ship which often was more dangerous to the crew than the situation they were in.

Anyhow, if you are interested in giving just a couple of pounds to our effort then you can find our group donation page here:

Once again I apoloise if this offends anyone by posting in a forum.

Many thanks!
