The local RNLI station had a sailpast to celebrate 100 years of service, so I went to the beach and snapped a few photos.

The harbour master had extra help enforcing the speed limit on the day.
Imagine the surprise of the speeding boat when the 1/4 pounder opened up.

Terror is the last of a once-large fleet of Oyster boats.
Constructed in 1890 or thereabouts, recently restored, and available to book to the general public.

The rowers turned out too, complete with straw hats.

Don't laugh at the size of this D-class: it can go where other lifeboats dare to tread.
Around the sandbanks and shallows of Wittering, it is totally at home.

The Atlantic is the local workhorse: it gets called out a lot, as coastal and towing capability enable it to rescue much larger craft when needed.

Tyne class can be launched down a slipway, and also has a shallow draft.

And this sounds like a proper lifeboat: Tamar Class - "Alfred Albert Williams", operating out of Bembridge, visiting Hayling.
