RNLI Maroons

Has any one else heard that the RNLI are to stop using maroons on H&S grounds.
If so Howmany people are, like me, appaled the this proposal.

It seems that a misfired maroon recentlycleared out the cakestand in a Cornish cafe .... frightening. However, the RNLI says that not only is there an H and S issue, not using maroons will save them £50k a year. The locals here in Weymouth are v upset but since no-one else has responded to your post of over 2 weeks ago, maybe no-one here cares!
