Renewing my mast cable glands involved cutting off the old RJ 45 male plug for the radar.
Before crimping on a new one, I found it was too big to go in the the connecting block, and also too big for the spare connecting block that I had.
The local CEF (City Elecrical Factors) shop had plenty of new RJ 45 male plugs, and connecting blocks, but on asking them to check, we found that not only their plugs did not fit my connecting block, they didn't fit any of their own stock of connecting blocks ! They seemed as baffled as me. What to do now? I would be most grateful for a solution!

I assume you’re aware that until you crimp the pins down it won’t go into the Ethernet socket? You didn’t specify in what way it didn’t fit

Have you looked at the manufacturer's website to get the exact size of their 'RJ45' connector? I find that several marine manufactures are providing non-standard, standard fittings.

It’s either RJ45 or it’s not. It’s a standard so you don’t get differing sizes. Some might wiggle a bit but the plug would fit and the contact would be fine assuming the latch engaged (these need to be pulled out after crimping usually)

Aahhaa! The light had dawned. They wont fit until crimped!
Thanks guys!
This Forum is so brilliant!
( You would think the guys at CEF would know that)

CEF are electrical suppliers, RJ45 are most used by IT guys who do the terminations and would not really buy from CEF so not surprised that the counter staff did not know.
