if this photo post works, my first, it shows the bar august 06 very clearly. you can make out the port handmark in the centre. it shows how close to the rocks you go - mind you this is low water.
fingers crossed. recommend a visit, great peaceful place

Lovely picture!!! is it as peaceful as on my only visit, in 1973?, it was beautiful then. Bill.
bit late to this one. The upstream pontoon is the quieter of the two. The tide does run quite fast so a combination of care and timing is needed. If very busy ask the Harbour Master (Robin Page) or sometimes Martin Plough is out in the launch if there are any private moorings available. The yacht club is very good, they poached the chef from The Ship (John) last year. If you want further info PM me (We live there)
A quick comment for those who are still following this thread. My experience is that the Port hand marks are not at the end of the sand spit at the entrance to the harbour. The spit has been growing and it is possible to find yourself embarressed by lack of depth if you enter at LW Springs and stay too close to the Port Hand mark. You can get very (worryingly for some crew) close to the rocks in the entrance. The chart will also tell you to beware of the Outerslimers etc in the outer approaches. I can also confirm that the leading marks are still in place.
