Evening all,

I'm off this weekend to Boston to provide safety cover for an event which has been moved from the Nene at Peterborough to the River Witham in Boston.

Has anybody been up there and know how deep it is??

Any other useful hints and tips would be gratefully received!

Many thanks,

CJL

I've been there, if you're sticking to the channel and going in on the flood you'll be fine, I've seen the range.

Have you booked the lock at Boston? Grand Sluice Lock 07712 010920 or 01205 364864

Not much more to say, it's pretty unremarkable, lots of high banks, not so much to see, some wreaks visible to the sides as you near Boston.

Thank you!!!

I will try and get some pictures and post later. Seems very desolate at the moment. Hopefully the sun will shine and temps will reach mid 20s! Then again I might be dreaming!

Wow, what a weekend ...... totally exhausted.

Both days started at 0430 and ended after midnight but any excuse to mess around in boats is a good thing!!

Met a very "rural" farmer who kindly used his Massy Fergerson to launch our three boats on both days for a 100 notes.

No European knowledge was required but I took a BIG padlock for the shiny new outboard. ;)

The Dutch Barge owners on the C&RT moorings were lovely and kept us supplied with tea and coffee all weekend. I have to say I was impressed with the owners who spent all weekend beavering away doing odd jobs and their boats did look pretty tidy as a result.

The amount of water going over the Boston Sluice was quite impressive and led to some interesting boat handling skills being demonstrated!

Anyway thanks for the all advice and as promised some pics are below
