I've caught a good number of fish from my boat at sea now - but after hours and hours with various Fladen (et al) lures cast when at my mooring at Weir Quay, I've come up with nothing - not even a nibble - despite on occasion being surrounded by large fish rising!

I'm up at Weir Quay - so quite a way up the river - but it's salty up there and seaweed abounds.

What fish are they up there? Any suggestions as to how to catch the larger, more common, edible ones??

TY!!

Don't know how familiar you are with the who's who of Weir Quay, but if you speak to Allen next time you are ashore, he is the font of all such knowledge.

I'm up at weir quay as well on a hustler 30 and have been thinking about expanding my fishing kit that currently just consists on a hand line for mackerel. I'll watch this post with intrest for advice and am only sorry that I have not got much to add myself!

I'm no where near the Tamar but purchased a cheap (£14) rod kit for fishing when at anchor. Good fun and entertainment after a sail and have managed to catch a range of fish that are mainly returned for another day.
